Superintendent's Weekly Memo - November 22, 2024

Superintendent's Weekly Memo - November 22, 2024
Dr. Marice Edouard-Vincent, Superintendent

Dear Mustang Families,

As we inch closer to our Thanksgiving break, I would like to extend my gratitude to all parents, caregivers, students and staff who have been gracious in contributing to the multiple food and donation drives supporting our community. In a season of giving thanks, I am especially appreciative for your willingness to help others in need and proudly demonstrate the Mustang Spirit.

We ended the week on a great note as earlier this morning, our Brooks Elementary School 5th Grade teacher Mrs. Nicole Sullo was recognized as this week's Kiss 108 Billy & Lisa in the Morning's Local Legend

Mrs. Sullo was surprised in her classroom about the news by the show's radio hosts, myself, Mayor Lungo-Koehn, and her former students at the St. Joseph's School. As part of the recognition, Mrs. Sullo won tickets to next month's Jingle Ball concert at TD Garden!

We are so blessed to have terrific educators such as Mrs. Sullo enhancing the lives of our students!

As a reminder, due to Thanksgiving Break, Wednesday, Nov. 27 will be an early release day. Schools will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29.

Past & Present Mustang Athletes Set to Shine

Start your Thanksgiving cheering on our Mustang varsity football team, cheer team, marching band, and color guard in the annual Thanksgiving Day game against the Malden Tornadoes! This year, the game is at MacDonald Stadium in Malden, with kickoff set for 10 a.m.

The football team was greeted by a great surprise at practice this week when Senior Quarterback Justin Marino was presented with the Association of New England Football Officials Memorial Award! Justin is just the second Mustang ever to receive the award which honors a senior football player who has demonstrated integrity and sportsmanship throughout the season

Later in the afternoon, members of our Medford Mustang Girls Soccer team participated in the Greater Boston League Select Game! Congratulations to Kaligh Dixon, Cecilia Colombo, Jossira Kouyate, Catrine Elien, Gabriella Komorny & Sierra Isbill on this tremendous recognition.

Also in the news, Medford High School Class of 1987 Graduate Joe Sacco was named Interim Head Coach of the Boston Bruins! Sacco scored 52 goals and notched 62 assists in his final two seasons as a Mustang before going on to play at Boston University and in the 1992 Winter Olympics for Team USA. The Mustang Athletic Hall of Fame inductee spent 13 seasons in the NHL before beginning his coaching career in 2005.

Lastly, the registration deadline for winter sports has been extended to Monday, Nov. 25. Visit Here to sign up now. Tryouts begin Dec. 2.
