School Report Card
February 2025
Dear Brooks Parents and Caregivers,
Every year, each public school and school district in Massachusetts receives a report card. Just as your child’s report card shows how they are doing in different subjects, the school’s report card is designed to show families how our school is doing in different areas. Our school’s report card is available here.
The report card includes multiple measures of a school’s performance – more than just MCAS scores. It represents another way of looking at school performance by providing information on student achievement, teacher qualifications, student learning opportunities, and more.
Report cards are designed to be useful tools for everyone connected to our school. Families can use the information to have meaningful conversations with us about what the school is doing well and where there is room for improvement. Community and education leaders can use the information to better understand how to support students and our school. Further details regarding the School and District Report Cards can be found at the following links:

Massachusetts uses information on progress toward improvement targets, accountability percentiles, graduation rates, and MCAS participation rates to determine each district and school’s overall classification. Most districts and schools are divided into two categories: those requiring state assistance or intervention and those that do not require state assistance or intervention.
Brooks Elementary School is in the category of “not requiring assistance or intervention.” This means that our school is performing well and does not need additional support from the state.
For accountability measures, our school has been classified as making “substantial progress toward targets,” a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff. This is a moment of pride for all of us and a reassurance that we are on the right path. We are steadfast in our commitment to improving student outcomes in our school, and we are confident in our ability to continue this positive trajectory.
We are actively working on the following strategies to ensure continuous growth and development:
- Coaching and staff professional development in high-leverage instructional strategies aligned with our district’s instructional vision to employ across the school to improve student outcomes.
- Using NWEA MAP, MCAS, and DIBELS Assessments to collect data, inform curriculum and instructional decisions, and improve student outcomes.
- Collecting and Analyzing Data to drive instruction is essential to meeting the needs of our students. The Brooks Staff will collaborate to share and analyze data regularly.
- Working with individual students and families to address chronic absenteeism, impacting instruction continuity and student outcomes.
We encourage you to become involved in helping us improve our school. We see parents and caregivers as critical partners in the success of our students and school, and we are grateful for your continued support.
